Every piece in this series starts with a photograph at reduced opacity – a guide underneath the canvas. What goes on top is done by hand in Procreate, brush stroke by brush stroke. The photograph disappears. What’s left is the interpretation.
Black ink on white. Figures dissolving, emerging, becoming something else. Faces that are also birds, forms that are also absence. There’s always a moment in the making where it stops looking like anything and then suddenly becomes exactly what it needed to be.
This is figurative work that sits on the edge between drawing and painting, between the representational and the abstract. The digital ink process allows for a kind of mark-making that would be difficult on paper – layers built up, pulled back, reconsidered. But the hand is always there in every line.
Each digital ink print is produced on fine art stock through Gelato and shipped directly to you, wherever you are.

The Digital Ink series is figurative work made on a first generation iPad that now doubles as a teleprompter. Tools don’t matter much. The eye does.
These digital ink prints are available in multiple sizes and printed to order. No two sessions produce the same result – the process is live, responsive, and occasionally surprising. That’s the point.
